Robert J. Tobin

Chief Investment Officer

Rob Tobin joined Persimmon Capital Partners in 2012 as its Chief Investment Officer. In this capacity, Rob leads all direct and alternative investment activity and manages Persimmon’s overall portfolio allocation strategy.  Rob has been heavily involved in the development and management of Persimmon’s real estate and private equity/debt portfolios. 

Prior to joining Persimmon, Rob served as an investment professional with ABS Capital Partners, a private equity firm focused on later stage growth investments. At ABS, Rob focused on investments in the technology, media, and telecommunications (TMT) sectors, and worked closely with portfolio companies on key strategic and operational objectives. Before joining ABS, Rob served as an investment banker with Friedman Billings Ramsey. At FBR, Rob advised growth companies in the TMT sectors on mergers and acquisitions, and private and public equity and debt capital activities.

Rob currently serves on the boards of RedPoint Global, US Auto Sales, CDI UA Holdings and SalesWarp.  Rob formerly served on the boards of Heights Finance (acquired by CURO), IgnitionOne (acquired by Zeta Global), and Novus Capital Group (acquired by SG Credit Partners).  Rob also served on the boards of the National MS Society – Maryland Chapter and The Kevin E. Reichardt Foundation, both non-profit organizations.

Rob received an M.B.A from Columbia Business School and a B.S. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
